We are seeking a motivated Applications Engineer (CNC) for our Southern California location. This is a 35-hour workweek position with additional hours as needed. The position reports to the office daily unless at a customer’s location.

Job Responsibilities

Part programming of CNC machines, process development, and customer training in a manufacturing environment

Conduct pre-sale activities including customer visits, machine assessment, and recommendations

Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications

Create time studies and perform first part run off

Programming, setup, and training of Citizen and Miyano CNC lathes and CNC vertical or horizontal mills

Qualifications & Skills

Mechanical Machine Designer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Machine Designer to join our team. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining mechanical equipment layouts, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and designing mechanical components and mechanisms. The designer will also provide technical support, coordinate with vendors, and assist in prototype assembly and testing. Occasional travel to customer facilities (~5%) may be required.

Job Responsibilities

Create and maintain mechanical equipment layouts, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BoM)

Design mechanical components and mechanisms, and produce construction/detail drawings

Enter component and BoM information into ERP system

Communicate with vendors and fabricators for parts sourcing

Perform mechanical assembly and testing of prototypes

Coordinate build and purchasing activities internally and with suppliers

Create project documentation, including manuals

Provide technical support and troubleshoot as needed

Some travel to customer facilities (~5%)

Qualifications & Skills

4–8+ years’ experience in mechanical machine design

Machine design experience, preferably with machine tool accessories/equipment

Experience with Swiss type lathes, Citizen and/or Miyano machines a plus

Associates or Bachelor’s degree helpful but not required

Understanding of manufacturing processes for designed components

Able to create detail drawings accurately and efficiently for manufacture

Proficient with SolidWorks 3D design

Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Able to work independently with minimal supervision

CNC Service Technician
